Were excited to have had our 2019 Volunteer Appreciation Event last Friday with delicious tamale dinner catered by Mixteca, a large selection of raffle prizes, and watershed Trivia. Thanks to everyone who came out!
This year marks our 25th year as a watershed council, cheers to that! – Speech by Courtney Beckel Volunteer Manager.
Planting thousands of trees, removing tons of trash, working to heal the landscape is an act of love. It’s totally unreal what you all have done together for the creek this year.
The metrics and numbers are really astounding. But it’s the collaboration that you all do, talking to friends about this work, creating coalitions, partnerships, and mentorships that is the most inspiring way that I see you all taking that power to the next level!
For one of the smallest watersheds in the state, we have the largest, (and also coolest) volunteer program and we get a ton done!
Thank you all so much for being a part of this big team!
We’ll be having volunteer events at Leach Botanical Garden about once a month starting November 23 and we will be starting off digging the blackberry roots out of the ground-we hope to see you there! It’s going to be a fun time!
VOLUNTEER SURVEY
Thanks again volunteers for a great 2019! Together we planted and cared for more than 7,000 trees and shrubs, removed more than 4.5 tons of trash from the creek, removed more than 10 acres of invasive species, and created friendships and partnerships to boot. How was your volunteer experience? Let us know in this Survey HERE.
