Great news: The Herbert A. Templeton Foundation (of Portland) has awarded JCWC a $5,000 grant for our service learning programs with local schools. This will allow us to continue to provide enriching service learning trips and environmental education to youth across our watershed! Check out some great photos of this years’ students in action.
Students from elementary through high school have participated in a variety of activities in the watershed, including:
-removing invasive species
-planting native plants
-providing plant care (weeding, mulching and watering)
-testing water quality
-learning about creek macroinvertebrates (water bugs!)
-installation of overwintering insect habitat (bug hotels)
We look forward to getting out there with students again in the fall!
