Want to learn more about what a watershed is and what you can do to improve the water quality in one? Pack a picnic lunch, hop on public transit, bike, or drive, and join us Saturday, June 10th at Kellogg Creek Park as we partner with Clackamas Water Environment Services, World Salmon Council, Depave, SOLVE, and Bob’s Red Mill for a family friendly day of learning about and caring for a healthy Johnson Creek Watershed.
Kick off the day picking up litter with SOLVE around Kellogg Creek Park and then join us at Kellogg Creek Park for family fun. Don’t forget to bring a picnic to enjoy with family and friends. Follow your very own Watershed Discovery Day passport to multiple family-friendly booths to discover how you can contribute to healthy streams, protect wildlife in your neighborhood, and win prizes. Collect a passport stamp from each booth for a bonus giveaway!

Clackamas Water Environment Services believes in a clean water future where all people benefit and rivers thrive. Stop by our booth to have some watershed fun and learn what you can do to become a clean water champion.
Learn how you can help protect wild salmon in our rivers, and discover the life cycle of these resilient fish at World Salmon Council’s booth!
Practice cleaning up with the litter grabbers and test your skills at finding plastics in sand. Don’t forget the stickers and bookmarks while guessing how much litter is in our jar.
Discover the importance of vegetation along the creek as you plant your own seeds in a take home compostable pot and explore the salmon journey with a fun salmon obstacle course at the JCWC booth.
Pavement isn’t permanent. The runoff model demonstrates the benefits of depaving, and returning our urban environment to a more beautiful and natural stormwater runoff management system, beneficial to people and the environment.

What: Remove litter with our partner SOLVE around Kellogg Creek Park! Afterwards, walk over for a family-friendly day of watershed discovery while picnicking in Kellogg Creek Park! Attend one or both parts of the event!

When: Saturday, June 10th, clean up with SOLVE 9-11:00 am followed by a family friendly Watershed Discovery Day event 11-2:00 pm
Where: Kellogg Creek Park – 11525 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Milwaukie, Oregon (directions below).
How to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine, so dress for the weather: rain coat, warm layers, sun hat, and sunscreen as necessary. Bring a filled water bottle, a picnic lunch, and a blanket or chairs to sit on.
We will provide: Gloves, high vis-vests, trash bags, and all necessary tools for the cleanup will be provided by SOLVE.
Health and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.
Children are welcomed!: Children are welcome at this event if accompanied by an attentive adult.
Accessibility: If you are participating in the clean up with SOLVE, this event may require walking over uneven ground. Restrooms will be provided, but may not be wheelchair accessible.
