What: Clearing vegetation from 1242 sq. feet of a bioswale in the parking lot. We like to do this in the summer to make sure it’s cleared and draining properly when the rains come in the fall. And, as an added bonus, the timing of the event is before the Saint Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Church’s large annual event in late June so we can have it looking nice for all the visitors they will be hosting the following weekend.
When: Saturday, Jun 18, 2022, 10am-1pm
Where: 7715 SE 92nd Ave, Portland, OR 97266
What to bring: Bring a filled water bottle and snacks. You’re welcome to bring gloves and tools, if you want to use your own.
What to wear: Dress for the weather! Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring a raincoat or a hat and sunscreen, as appropriate.
What we provide: Gloves, tools, and instruction on how to safely use tools and remove unwanted vegetation. Saint Mary Ethiopian Church will be providing lunch!
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult. This work is around and near prickly plants and can be challenging for young children. We recommend children ages 12 and up for this type of event.
