This year in honor of Earth Day, Johnson Creek Watershed Council is teaming up with the City of Gresham to work at the 7th St Bridge site. This site is located near Eastman Parkway and the Springwater corridor trail. Historically, this site was covered in Himalayan blackberry for decades until the The City of Gresham hired contractors to clear it away. While the creek is very incised here, we hope that the continuing work of restoring habitat will limit erosion and encourage wildlife to inhabit the area. Volunteers and staffers planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs at 7th St Bridge this past season. Now it’s time to mulch these plants to keep them insulated from extreme temperatures, help them retain water during the hotter months and keep plant competition at bay.
Sign up here! We look forward to celebrating Earth Day with you!
