Science Talk on Freshwater Mussels

Join us for the first in a series of Science Talks in 2014: Dwellers in the Deep- Freshwater Mussels of Johnson Creek.

 

Since 2010, Dr. Mazzacano has been studying the freshwater mussels of Johnson Creek in partnership with Johnson Creek
Watershed Council. She will share the results of her research and provide a brief overview of what is known about these mysterious macroinvertebrates – their biology and life cycle.
Guest speaker:
Dr. Celeste Mazzacano is the Aquatic Conservation Program Director at the Xerces Society. With a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Minnesota, she has worked for over 16 years in research and education, and recently became Editor in Chief of ARGIA, the news journal of the Dragonfly Society of the Americas.

Join us for an educational evening with a local scientist.
Food and drink available for purchase. $5 suggested donation to benefit JCWC Riparian Program. This is a 21+ only event.
